A couple of weeks ago we started our school year off with a cookout – our School Year Kickoff Cookout. Tonight was another fun start – the restart of IMPACT Night and Youth Group. I’m excited for all that God has in store for us this year.
At our School Year Kickoff Cookout we distributed our 2015-2016 Ministry Calendar. If you missed it – you can get your copy HERE.
IN THE WORD THIS WEEK
Sundays – The Gospel Project: The Bible is not simply a collection of stories. It is one story of God’s plan to rescue His people from sin and death. It is the story of redemption, the gospel message of Jesus Christ. And it’s our story too. Through this Christ-centered chronological study of the Bible, we’ll see how all Scripture gives testimony to Jesus. We’ll discover the big picture of what God has been doing throughout redemptive history and what that means for us today. We’ll also examine major Bible doctrines as they are revealed in Scripture.
Wednesday Youth Group – Life in 6 Words: In this 7 week video series, we’ll explore the main components of the Gospel. The goals are to clearly understand the gospel, personally accept the gospel, and be equipped to boldly articulate the gospel. The video utilizes the viral video – Life in 6 Words.
For Discussion from Session 1 – Introduction:
- From the beginning to the end, God is at the center of the human story. But He wants this story to be personal to us as individuals. What do you think it should look like when someone knows God personally?
- Do you know God personally like that?
- Are you living like you really believe the gospel is “the greatest story ever told”? Why or why not?
- Take a few minutes to brainstorm together some things each of you could do this week to start living like Jesus matters and the gospel is “the greatest story ever told”.
- Think of a friend who needs Jesus at the center of their life. Let’s commit to praying for them throughout this week, and inviting them to join us next week.
