I’m praying for you. Recent conversations have reminded me of what a huge responsibility parenting is. Certainly there are times of immense joy and reward. But, there’s no doubt about it, it’s hard work. I’m praying that you had wisdom, patience, love, and endurance for each moment as you parent the kids God’s entrusted to you.
Sunday School – “All In – Discovering Church Membership”:
Week One – Our Salvation: In this opening session, we explored the biblical precedent and requirements for church membership. We spent most of our time studying God’s amazing love for us and the remarkable salvation He’s provided.
Memory Verse: Galatians 3:26-28
Making It Personal: (this is the application assignment to complete on their own)
- If your teen is trusting in Christ for salvation, they are encouraged to write out their salvation experience, describing:
- What their life was like before Christ
- The circumstance that lead them to trust Christ for salvation
- How Christ has changed their life
- If your teen isn’t trusting Christ yet, they are encouraged to write out what’s holding them back, including questions, reservations, concerns, or objections.
Next Sunday: All In: Discovering Church Membership – Our Sacraments (Baptism and the Lord’s Supper)
Wednesday Youth Group:
- Miniseries: “True North – When All Seems Lost” in which we’re learning how God’s attributes and character help us through life.
- This Week’s Theme: “Real Love” The students learned to recognize the qualities of God’s love and were encouraged to respond with love toward others.
- Scripture Memory: 1 John 4:10
- Discussion Questions (Parents – use these to follow-up with your teen):
- How does god demonstrate His love toward us?
- Which of the qualities of God’s love is the most amazing to you and why?
- Describe one way you can begin to show God’s love to someone in your life this week.

All good teachers have good lesson plans….yours are great because they impact souls for eternity and the future of our church (universal and local). We are beginning to hear a lot about post-church Christianity and I think it may be a dangerous thing. I believe you are working hard at teaching our youth the basics and that will make an impact.
Thanks Kathy! I share your concern. I believe part of the solution is helping our youth establish their own faith, not rely on an “inherited faith” from their parents. We’re working hard to help them internalize and personalize their relationship with Christ.
